Shear Beauty in Waverly
Michelle Frazee, owner of Shear Beauty
Hair stylist Michelle Frazee has been helping to make people beautiful for 28 years. The last 23 years she has been cutting and styling at her "Shear Beauty" salon on West Main Street in Waverly. Even after that many years, she says she still enjoys it. “I like people,” she says. “The customers become like part of your family.”
When Michelle started Shear Beauty, she was her only employee. She has since expanded to include 2 other beauticians and a nail technician. Kelly Varano has been cutting hair for 10 years. Mandy (Matlock) Goad has been cutting hair for 13 years and nail tech Brittney Cunningham has been doing nails since 2006. Mandy says with a huge smile, “I love making people feel good about themselves.”

Kelly says, “I decided in high school that I wanted to do this. I still love it as much as ever.” Brittney adds, “I enjoy the time with the customers. They really become friends.”
Michelle is quick to compliment her staff. She says, “We have clients who travel from as far away as Springfield, Murfreesboro, and Kingston Springs just to have Kelly or Mandy do their hair. They like the way their hair was done in the past and it's worth the drive for them.”
Although they have a long list of regular clients, Michelle says they always welcome new ones. “We will make sure you get taken care of. Just give us a call and we'll get you scheduled.”
When asked what is the best part of the job, all 4 of the ladies say it's the clients. Michelle says, “If you're not in a good mood when you get here, we'll make sure you're in a good mood before you leave.”
