It's impossible for me to talk about Humphreys County in general terms because I am so emotionally attached. I was born and raised right here. Like my parents, their parents, and their parents before them, this is the land of my roots. I went to school here, played Dixie League baseball, was baptized in Blue Creek, worked my first job at the MI-DE-GA Theater, then later worked at the local radio station and Loretta Lynn's Ranch. Almost every memory I have from childhood happened in Humphreys County.
I went on to work for over 25 years in various aspects of the music industry. As my career allowed me to travel all across the U.S into towns big and small, I began to realize just how truly unique Humphreys County is. It's rare for a place to forge so confidently into the future without losing the sense of community and family that was its foundation. But that is just the kind of place Humphreys County is. So, I am honored to be the Executive Director of the Humphreys County Chamber of Commerce.
I realize that there are a lot of misconceptions about what a Chamber of Commerce does and what it can do. I hope that we are changing that. Every decision I make, big or small, is first filtered through this question: "Is what we are doing beneficial to the businesses of our community and to the community as a whole?" I believe an organized, active, and forward thinking Chamber of Commerce can make a huge impact in promoting local business, give local residents new reasons to shop and buy locally, and be a voice for the community.
Thank you for visiting our website. Feel free to contact me with your questions, comments, and concerns. Working together, we can continue to see Humphreys County grow and prosper.
